Hi, I'm Gwen!

I'm a Brit, currently living in the US.

Over the past couple of years I've developed a passion for upcycling furniture & household items. It started as a spark of curiosity, and somehow developed a creative momentum all of it's own!

I love seeing the potential to transform an old, salvaged or thrifted piece of furniture. First re-imagining in my minds-eye how I'd like it to look, then letting my supplies and hands get to work to see if it can be achieved.

It honestly lights up my soul to be left to recreate something that might otherwise have ended up in land-fill. Hence the name 'Nuri Furnishings'. 'Nuri' means 'My light'; a beautiful name, and one whose meaning felt quite apt.

I started off my journey by wanting to refresh the aesthetic of furniture and other decor items in our home. Fancying a new look, but not loving the idea of forking out a tonne of money to achieve it....I got creative!!

Learning so much along the way; from others, from my own research, and mostly from trial and error,

I decided to share it with you, incase you feel inspired to get creative too.
